My computer shuts off suddenly whenever I am gaming. My CPU and GPU temps are within acceptable range. However, my PSU is really hot when I touch it. Because Corsair gs800 fan only spins under certain load I think the fan is not working for whatever reason and overheating the PSU thus causing the PC to shut down suddenly.

Is there such a way to control the fan speed of a PSU? Or is replacing the PSU is the only way?

My rig:
i5 2500k stock speed
Asus z77a
8 gb ram
Asus r9 280x
Corsair gs800 psu

I would start with the PSU, if it really hot, not just warm then yeah sounds like its going bad. You could pick up a Corsair CX or CXM 550 or 650 watt fairly cheap and they are decent budget PSUs.
