[SOLVED] My PC Specs and what happens if I upgrade my GPU

Hello, I bought my PC around 6-7 years ago and I paid around 1.8k$ for it.

Today, I want to check that if I only upgrade my GPU will I be able to play some recent games with high fps? These are my current specs

Going to Pascal or even Turing GPU's will certainly give you a bottleneck with the cpu. Maxwell GPU's is a maybe and Kepler is a no. I would do a full upgrade to something fresh and new.

The 3820 is getting up there in age, but with a decent video card up grade it still has some life left in it, especially if you don't have the money for a complete system at the moment.

Just search around for videos with similar specs and card you are looking at to see if it can handle the games you are interested in. \/ Just as an idea...

I still have the i7 4770 running with 16 gigs of RAM and no GPU. Its a 6 years old system that I use for 3d rendering. My GPU died few months back and I'll be buying the GTX 1660ti for this system soon. I know its a very old setup but it gets the job done. I will recommend you to get a GTX 1660 (non-ti version) because your CPU can't harness the extra power of a Ti version and the 1660 is more than enough if you're just going to play games on it. With the new GPU (GTX 1660) you can still get 1-2 years of decent gaming years out of your system, maybe more.
