What CPU cooler do you have installed? What is the max temperature that your CPU reaches while your system is under load (e.g. actively playing a game) ? Were it my computer, I would download and run DDU to fully remove your drivers and then redownload and reinstall Nvidia drivers (without Geforce Experience).

Also, and I think this is the more likely culprit, even though you CPU isn't overheating, the heat from the GTX 1080 may be causing your motherboard VRM or other component to restart the system. To test this, open up your case and tilt the PC on it's side. The motherboard should be facing your ceiling. It's also helpful if you have desk or floor fan to point toward the motherboard, while the computer is running. Then try to...

It's also helpful if you have desk or floor fan to point toward the motherboard, while the computer is running. Then try to recreate the freezing problem. Also, could you please post at least two photos of the inside of your computer, as I'd like to get an idea of the airflow. You can take the photos, post to imgur and then share the links here. Thanks.
