Sounds like your pc gets to high temp..
Clean out any dust from fans and such. If its an old pc, you might want to reapply thermal past on the CPU

check for dust, clean out all fans, dust collectors etc , what are your PC specs? as saint row 3 isn't the most demanding game these days.

do you get any message before shut down?
are you running any temp monitoring software?

List all specs, be sure to include gpu and psu. Hard shutdown is normally a power supply problem. High temps usually result in clock throttling/stuttering/lower framerate.
