Question My PC turns on and boots to the OS, but the BIOS/UEFI is just a black screen ?

My system is a Ryzen 5500 on a A320M-A Pro and a GTX 1650S, I can actually see my motherboard logo on startup, but the problem I have is that when I press the DEL button to start the BIOS/UEFI I only get a black screen and I have suspicions that as I have read in forums is because the GPU can not access the BIOS, and therefore sends the BIOS display to the CPU display port and the Ryzen 5 5500 does not have dedicated graphics, therefore even if I tried to connect it to the CPU port nothing is displayed. I have to clarify that my monitor does detect when entering the BIOS/UEFI, since the color of the screen is not exactly black at all, and the monitor detects the resolution of the BIOS.

Although I would like to clarify that this is strange, since previously I had another A320 board and a Ryzen 3200G and using the HDMI connected to the 1650S I never had problems accessing the BIOS from that motherboard, at this time I no longer have any of those components.

I would also believe that it is a problem of the motherboard to have the bad BIOS, but before assembling the PC in a store, I requested that they perform for me the BIOS update for this board to support the Ryzen 5500 that only supports it by BIOS update.

I have read that some people solve this problem by updating the firmware of their graphics card with NVIDIA's own tool to do so, but that tool does not support 16 series graphics cards.

Finally, I have read that this problem has been solved for some people by updating their BIOS with MSI's Live Update software, but honestly I have read more bad things about this tool than good things, and although it actually shows a pending BIOS update I do not want to end up updating so that now the only CPU I have is no longer supported, I could not update it again if it does not have a display.

I have tried all the typical solutions with no real luck, change the RAM, boot with a module, disconnect the HDD/SSD, disconnect the GPU and connect directly to the motherboard display (no display shown directly), remove the CMOS battery for 5 minutes and put it back, use the jumper, connect another monitor to the motherboard display when entering the BIOS (just a black screen) and I can go on.

Thank you and my apologies if the post is a little bit badly ordered, this is my first post.

Is Windows installed? And boot to it?

On login screen press and hold shift while clicking on restart. Select troubleshoot -> Adv options -> Uefi firmware settings. Hopefully you can then boot to bios.

Or try repeatedly tapping delete before turning on pc and keep tapping del for some time afterwards, at least till after post before stopping.

Try another usb port, usb 2, there's two at back.

Im trying to see if you can get into bios by normal means because no display at bios splash has nothing to do with not having an igpu. The motherboard knows a graphics card is present and will be prioritising it so most likely button to access bios isn't being recognised or performed at the wrong time.

Yes, Windows is installed and I can access it normally after the logo on my motherboard.

I tried to use the advanced options inside Windows but the result unfortunately was the same, a black screen that does not react to anything.

At the moment I think it is not a problem of not being able or not pressing the key (DEL) in time, because to install Windows I used the F11 key from the same moment I press DEL to access the BIOS (that is, since I turn on the PC) and I can perfectly do it again, in fact directly it is just a black screen with a drive selection window and the mouse, but I can access it.

Update: I used MSI Live Update to update the BIOS, nothing bad happened and right after doing it I could access the BIOS for a few seconds after that for some reason it threw me out and I can't access it anymore, so again I'm in the same situation.

And thanks for answering.

What video cable are you using DP or Hdmi? Have you tried another input cable? Say if Hdmi is taking priority over DP, try Hdmi cable.

What do you mean bios throws you out, it just reboots or black screens but perhaps remains in bios till you force restart?

When I was using the HDMI output on the GPU in my multimedia PC and connecting it to an old Panasonic plasma TV, I could never get into the BIOS because the TV display stayed blank until the Windows startup logo appeared.

If I wanted to tweak the BIOS, I switched to a DVI monitor which displayed the usual POST messages, including "Press Del or F1 to enter BIOS".

If you're using HDMI, switch to Display Port, DVI or VGA and see what happens.

Your answer is so accurate that it even scares me haha.

I don't know how you got it right but I have my old Panasonic TV connected to my PC, maybe that was always the problem.

At the moment I don't have a cable for the DVI port but I will try to connect it to a monitor and see the result.

I'm using HDMI and yes, I tried two HDMI cables and one of them is the same one I use for my Xbox.

After updating the BIOS I pressed DEL again to try to access the BIOS and was able to get in, but without touching anything suddenly the BIOS exited by itself and the computer booted normally.

After that, any attempt to boot into the BIOS repeats the same result as before.

How can I mark an answer as the solution? It seems stupid but that was my problem all this time.

The only bad thing is that I can't find the "Secure Boot" option, it's not in the security options, but I can access the BIOS/UEFI.
