My motherboard can hold up to 8gb of ram, i have 4gb of ram in at the moment, so i tried to put in more, when i put in 6gb, it just starts to load, gets part way and then resets, and when i put in 8gb, it just doesn't boot, it says i have no signal, i have used all different typed of ram, i used 4 corsair 2gb each, i have tried mixing 2 of them with 2 ballistix (i am currently using one of each so i know that they do work together) and i have tried it with crucial ram just, nothing i try works, i have windows 7 ultimate 64x

What motherboard?

Some motherboards will allow mixing memory, but they all require that all sticks run at the same voltage, speed, and timings. That means that you have to run the voltage at highest that any of the sticks require, and that the speed and timings must be at the slowest that any of the sticks require.

Pushing the voltage up a bit can help too.

RealBeast is right, may well need additional DRAM voltage (can start with + 0.05) and may need additional MC (memory controller) voltage - typically it's the CPU/NB on AMD mobos, on Intel socket 775 normally is the NB, P67 is the VCCIO, Z77 most often is CPUVTT or VTT, Z87 it's incorporated to the VCCSA

i have just tried every ram slot, they all work perfect on their own, or mixing them with 1 other slot, but try another, and it doesn't get passed the windows page

That is not unusual when mixing memory, which is why Tradesman1 and I recommended pushing your voltage.

It is not unusual for two pairs of otherwise identical memory not to run as a set of 4 -- I've RMA'd plenty of sticks just to get sets of four that are tested to work together.

how do i go into the timings and voltage?
