[SOLVED] my PC won't send out any signal

Hello Tom's HARDWARE community,
I'm a new user and would like to get some much needed help here.

Suddenly my pc give no signal to the monitor, both the external gpu and the integrated gpu

I have tried

• stripping it all, removing almost all components to the bare minimum and it still not work
• check if my monitor or cable is working properly (I'm using the same monitor and HDMI cable hook to laptop to write this post)

Please help me!

Spec: (after removing)

• MAIN: MSI B360 MORTAR
• CPU: I7 8700
• RAM: 8GB PARIOT
• PSU: COOLERMASTER 550W

Spec: (before removing)

• MAIN: MSI B360 MORTAR
• CPU: I7 8700
• RAM: 2 x 8GB PARIOT
• External GPU: MSI 1060 6GB
• PSU: COOLERMASTER 550W

continuous wattage?
mine psu don't even list its continuous wattage

If a PSU does not list continuous wattage, it is hard to know for how long it could keep working at certain power draw.
When a PSU does not list specific data about is specs, is missing some important features (UVP/OCP)or it has less than 5 years warranty...stay away from it.

and that PSU isn't cheap though, at least for me budget, at least for the price when the psu was purchased.
so are you saying that the psu is not reliable or fit for the job?

For the components you have, I would not recommend that PSU.
The minimum quality I would recommends will be something like the Corsair CX550

For the components you have, I would not recommend that PSU.

but there's so few psu with the fancy stuff you said
so far I have only found this:
Corsair SF600 - 80 Plus Platinum

but yooo that's a 600W PSU, continuously,
not to mention it's "platinum" effiency
which is, quite obviously, expensive

Yes it does...It says so in the manual.

UVP (Under Voltage Protection)
SCP (Short Circuit Protection)

When you get a good quality reliable PSU, it does come with those features.
You do not need to get an expensive platinum PSU.

I will let you in on another secret, just like RAM, there are plenty of companies selling PSUs, but there is a handful of PSU manufacturers.
All companies have different PSU tiers, from excellent units to pure garbage.
I was just showing you a PSU model that I found to be reliable.
Cooler Master have very good PSUs on their lists of units...such as GX550 Bronze, V550 GOLD V2, MWE Gold 550 V2, etc.

Which PSU companies are available in your area?

The best on the bunch, top of the line, is the Corsair RM650, but that unit might be expensive.
The Cooler Master MWE 650 Bronze V2 is a couple of tiers below but is still ok.

On a system with a dedicated GPU higher than the 1050 ti, avoid the Corsair CV, Silverstone Essential/ST, Deepcool DN and Gigabyte P.

Thing is, almost no one is knowledgeable about PSU in my place, or at least couldn't be the same level as veterans, such as you.

Also, rewiring the cables is too hard for me, I also have other deadlines to meet.
I don't see how I can allocate 1-2 weeks, let my main workstation sit on the side, learning how to rewiring.
Man, I'm not much of a PC hobbyist, I just need the machine to work.
You can treat my PC as a customizable pre-built, rather than a custom PC.

I do not believe that re-connecting PSU cables will take you 2 weeks. Maybe an hour if you have not done it before.
If you are not up to the task and you do not feel comfortable, then get help from someone else or a computer shop.

Cooler Master gets PSUs build from six or seven manufacturers.
The Cooler Master MWE 650 Bronze V2 internal components are quality built and has OPP, OVP, UVP, OCP, OTP and SCP.
You could just read the manual or specs available from Cooler Master website if the seller (dealer) does not list full specs.

Why? the CV look good to me:

• protection features

You care to elaborate why dedicated GPU don't like the CV? .___.

The GPU could be the most expensive component and the one that could used the most wattage in the system.
The GPU on your system could draw more power than all other components combine.
I would not trust a cheaply made Corsair CV to power an expensive GPU.

Buying quality means, spending money only once. You will save money in the long run.
A quality built PSU will last longer and will protect your components in case of a mishap.

I finally bring the machine to tech support last weekend. Here's the details:

• He (the technician) do POST check -> work fine with one 1 ram stick
• He insert the next ram stick -> it doesn't work
• He clean the ram with clothe (something I did) -> doesn't work
• He blow the ram, clean it with clothe again (something I also did) -> doesn't work
• He clean the ram slot with a mini broom (I didn't have the mini broom to carry out) -> doesn't work
• He then clean the ram with .. an eraser, yeah an eraser, and he erase the ram -> it works
• He repeat that eraser with the graphic cards -> it also works

Does this ever happened to you before @jojesa ?

I have encounter something similar just a few times, when sugary drinks were spilled on the hardware or tar from smokers built up on the system.
I cleaned (bathe) with 99% isopropyl alcohol...have never used an eraser though.

You really dip the ram stick in that alcohol?

I have bathe motherboards, graphics cards and RAM on medical grade 99% isopropyl alcohol.
The components are bone dry within a couple of minutes.

Well, when a sugary drink becomes in contact with components it start oxidation, so if that process isn't stopped on time the components will start to die.
