Setting this monitor up for the first time and comparing it to my PG278, the PG279 seems much much darker. Is it supposed to be? I found this page and used it to calibrate it:

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?99336-How-to-calibrate-the-PG279Q-and-make-it-look-great-done-easy

After setting it up, the numbers I got from above are R-47, G-45, B-40 with the brightness and contrast both at 100.

Side by side the two seem like night and day literally. I have a third monitor, a Dell U2412M and even that one seems much brighter. I'm just disappointed after spending so much money. Not that I equate brightness to quality but it just looks too low.

Edit: After I posted this, I found the exact same problem I am having here:

Not sure what to do yet. Haven't read the entire post yet.

If you don't have a professional calibration tool, it's really hard to say. It could be a defective one or that there's a setting just not right on brightness. But you said you tried the latter, so if you can't get it to your liking, I'd return it. Hopefully you bought it from a retail store and not an E-tailer. I've bought an ASUS monitor before and had to return it for backlight bleed problems. Quality on them is hit or miss.
