My power supply has a cable for "Perif1"; what does that mean, and where would it plug into?

You probably won't use "perif1". It is for (I believe) the molex (4 pin) plugs. They could allow you to power fans, or old hard drives, old optical drives etc.
It won't connect to your motherboard. The MB and CPU1 ports will plug into your motherboard.
