Alright so I bought a Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 OC version and i also bought a 550w power supply because i was told that the card requires atleast 500w. So thats what i bought. 550w. Im not the type of person that wants the best of the best computer parts. I just want something that makes the cut.

Now that i have my power supply, im all ready to set things up and play.

But now im being told to buy a new power supply because it might go out.
Like i said, im not into buying the best of the best and this power supply definitely is not the best.

This is it: http://www.amazon.com/KENTEK-Black-120mm-Power-Supply/dp/B0083YBBU8
Now theres no need to hurt my feelings and talk about how cheap it is, im sorta sensitive to the things i purchase.

I just dont get why this STILL isnt enough after i was told to buy what i was told to buy that would work. Can someone please explain this to me cause its not making any sense.

Maybe if someone can estimate how much wattage i need based off of my specs:
(I dont know the brands of everythign for i am new to this stuff.)

Processor: AMD fx 4300 quad core(3.80 GHz)
RAM: 4gb (i dont know the brand actually.)
MoBo: MS-7641
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 OC
GB space: 931 GB (dont know that brand either.)
PSU: Kentek Black 550w

Please and Thank you.

Its specs: 550 Watt +3.3V 38A, +5V 34A, +12V 22A, -12V 0.8A.
12V rails are more important since it is used to power almost everything in your pc.
22A X 12V =264W usable.
Also it is very cheap looking, probably haven't tested properly for over voltage protection etc... so it has a chance in breaking and can take down your pc as well.
Avoid that psu.

You want a decent 550W psu. A decent PSU will have their 12V rails providing near their rated wattage.
I recommend this one:

550W would run your setup, but you need a quality 550W. Even if you don't want "the best of the best", the PSU is not something to cheap out on. If you buy a cheap, poor quality unit, you are risking all of your components. A very bad PSU can and sometimes will blow up, taking your entire system with it.

Okay your PSU has enough power to do the single R9. Have you tried it yet? They recommend 500w because the card takes a certain amount and then they estimate (rather on the high end) what you will need to power the rest of your computer. 550 is well within that stipulations. The only reason someone might tell you to get more is that your brand of power supply is a little on the "cheap" side as you said. If you already have it, give it a shot, see if it works. If you don't have one, this is a good link to show you the tiers of power supplies out there. 550 is plenty find one you like and is a good tier 2.

Looking at the PSU you probably are going to have to mod it with molex addapters to get the proper connection to run your GPU. Go to the list and look around :)

I Havent tried it cause i dont want to ruin my computer like everyone seems to be telling me

There are many websites out there that will do it but most end up estimating MORE wattage than what is necessary. 550 is more than enough to run that computer you just have to get a good PSU with the link i provided earlier, pick a tier 2 if you are worried about price and you'll be fine.
