My print appears double why??

new ink cartridges don't help the problem. How can I fix the "double" font when I print?

Is the printer driver the right one for your model. Check Start, Printers & Faxes and see if the printer listed is the same model number as yours.

It has worked alright in the past, this is something new that is happening.

always ok before, this is a new problem of late

Delete the printer from the Printer & Faxes list. Close Windows. Restart and reinstall the printer in Printers and Faxes (add printer). See if that clears it.

Failing that, see if you can connect the printer to another computer without this issue arising (persuade a friend with a laptop to bring it round, maybe).
