my printer is not working

i am using xp sp 2. i connected my canon COLOR IMAGERUNNER C1030I printer with ethernet cable to lan port like usb cable. some times it is not working. when i am restarting my printer then it is working. whether any driver softwere is needed please tell me sir ?

Check the printer port.

Ping the printer port's IP.

Download latest drivers and install and try again. Ensure the port settings are correct and you are using the correct driver. Typically PCL drivers are good anyone. The latest software should have that from the manufactures website.

If the printer works once you restart it, it's most likely something with the printer, maybe the port or cable. Try a firmware update on the printer and make sure it's IP address is set as static.
