Hi there. A few months ago I was making a routine clean of my pc, and as always the CPU heatsink is the most dusty part, so I disconnected the fan, but by my own regrettable silliness I forgot to plug it back, so when I was done of cleaning and started the computer, the poor processor run like 10-13 seconds without fan, just heatsink. Quicky I became aware of this and I'd pull the cord off. I let the PC with no energy for a bit to cool down and I started and cheked the BIOS info. like 72 ºC was.
Nowdays the PC works well: no sudden restarts or spontaneous turn-offs, and the processor makes his work, but i'm concerned if this could affect it in some way, and if I can make a bit of overckocking when I get a kiquid cooler. Mainly because when I run demanding task such as rendering, the CPU clock downs a bit, instead of going up as supposed, but I think this is by some BIOS configuration.
BTW, the CPU is an AMD FX-6300 with stock cooler. I said that is supposed to go further becasue is tatet that this processor works at 3.5GHz but in workload can go to 4.1GHz. And today I replaced the thermal compound with a Cooler Master one.
