My PSU blew..Have my components remained alive?

So I've recently got some pc parts from my friend who didn't need them, and I've added them to my pc. I had a psu rated at 400w but it was a cheap PSU...I've calculated my alltogether power draw from the system and got like max 270w, lets say 300w, but I wasn't that afraid because I'm not a 'hardcore' user, but as you now know, it blew up..Before the blow up I noticed that my pc completely lost power and there was no fans running, no display, everything was off power, and like half a second later I heard 2 pops from the PSU, haven't seen sparks, but I'm 100% positive that the PSU blew, plus knowing the fact that the psu smelled burnt..Is it possible that it dealt no damage to anything?
I haven't got the money to get a new psu yet to test it out yet, what are your opinions guys? After unplugging every psu connection from the drives, mobo, fans, I noticed that nothing was hot at all, if this info helps anything.

As jankerson says, sparks seen are irrelevant. Cheap PSUs are usually cheap because of their poorer safety features. Good PSUs put more investment into their safety features which protects itself and your other components. Cheap ones run the risk of not protecting your other components.

Don't get me wrong, seeing sparks, burnt parts, or smoke is a sure fire damage done, but not seeing them doesn't mean you're damage free. As jankerson says, get a new PSU and retest, it's the only way you'll be able to find out.

If the computer shut down before any damage, then you're in luck, but you'll just have to see.
