Ok, the story is im building my pc. With asus maximus vii ranger and a cooler master RS-650-PCAR-E3. After finish i turned on the psu and the mobo gained electric. But the cpu fans didnt work. Only mobo had lighting but nothing else even the case fans. I thought i installed the wrong compoment so after that Im just stupidly switch the voltage from 230 to 115 and then BANG. Its freak me out. But the mobo still turning on meanwhile psu blew up. 🙁 Am i fried my rig? Please that should be a good news 🙁(. I think the psu will go to the bin after this but how about my mainboard, cpu, ram and the other cables that sticked with the case before? Please help me.
EDIT: my rig is
I7 4790k
Gskill 1600 8gb
Asus maximus vii ranger
Nzxt 450 (case)
cooler master RS-650-PCAR-E3. (psu)
I only plugged the psu with mainboard, cpu, ram. Not screen, keyboard or mouse, vga.
My system turned all off after and now i dont have anything to test my mainboard or cpu still alive or not.
EDIT 2: I smelt something fried in the psu but i see by my own eyes that it blew up near the switch. Does it affect to my other part or not? 🙁
Edit3: I found that there was white liquid that pill off from a yellow copper circle from the cases (nzxt noctis 450). It supposed to be there or not?

Even i posted a picture, u still cant see the different. Cause it happened inside the psu just close the 230/115 switch. My mainboard still same as before. I found that my psu has a protection like OVP( over power protection). In my case will it fine with my keyboard? Its sunday tomorrow I have to wait until monday to buy a new psu. Anyway Its my old psu from my old system.

If you need to post pictures, I suggest you use a hosting service like Imgur or Imageshack.

Your keyboard shouldn't really have been affected by this and it will (hopefully) be localised to the PSU but this can only be verified by using a different PSU to check the rest of the components.

As you can see the left side of the case some white liquid it appeared. I have no idea what is it.
My mainboard still the same as before.
And u can see the psu, the red switch i switched to 115 then blew up.
I meant above was mainboard not keyboard. Swipe keyboard mistake

Ah OK, it looks like the fan controller is the thing with the coil oozing liquid out - replace that and you should be OK (once you get a new PSU). You can ask NZXT for their proprietary internal PWM fan controller or get a generic one from amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MQE9I10/

Honestly, there's no real way to tell until you hook it up to a new PSU, I would wait until Monday and then either buy a new case (expensive) or a new fan controller (not as expensive) and a new PSU.

Tks for your care, honestly, while the psu blew up I just jump up. I will ask them to change or repair the case and a new PSU.

No problem. :) Make sure you keep us updated!

i found an answer from another thread in tomsforum
"If you change the voltage selector switch from 220 volts to 110 volts and you are on a 220 volt mains supply then the power supply blows up as you have found. What normally happens is that the varistors on the mains input go short circuit (permanently and there are two of them) and blows the internal fuse but the computer and the rest of the power supply are undamaged. If you have a particularly cheap power supply which does not have the varistors then the switching transistor and a lot of other components in the power supply get blown up, but fortunately this does not cause any damage to the rest of the computer. I repair lots of computers and I have seen this occur many times but it has never caused any damage to the rest of the computer. I think that you may have dodged the bullet here"
It makes me feel so comfortable now.

Good to hear - just stick a new PSU and fan controller in and you should be absolutely fine then.

I bought evga g2 850W. It works fine. My mobo, cpu, ram and the photos with the white liquid came out, it's glue and happened to every nzxt 450 noctis case. Well, so happy with that. Im really lucky and the psu was blow before it got ovp opp protection features so i think it works some how.
