Hi,recently i've got a new pc which worked perfectly fine for the first 2 months, after that one day the psu simply did a loud BANG and shutted down the whole computer,i am aware that i will have to replace it but what i need to know is the chances of anything else being damaged, the psu was a noname 450w that came with the case, yes i know i was pretty dumb to use that but i learned my lesson now

PC specs:
amd r7 370 gpu
fx 6300 cpu
hyperx fury 8gb ram
gigabyte 78lmt-s2, am3+ socket motherboard

Solution
A poor quality generic 450w PSU

Those 12v rails add up to 23a
23x12 =276.
That's 276w on the 12v rail.

CPU+GPU uses only the 12v , that PSU above is labelled 450w but is in reality a 300w PSU

The 12v on a quality PSU will always be a minimum of 80% of the total power spec of the whole PSU.

A real 500w PSU will have a minimum of 430w on its 12v rail alone (450-480 is more likely)

This us a budget evga 500b, a PSU sometimes frowned upon but what I consider an acceptable quality model for a mid-range gaming PC like yours.

480w on the...
It's impossible to say what has/has not been damaged at this stage, since the PC is dead so no troubleshooting is possible other than trying the main components on another system (GPU & CPU mainly).

Install a new (and decent) PSU and see if your PC runs okay. If it doesn't, start a new thread, including a mention that the previous PSU blew up.

i see, could you recommend me a good psu for my build?

are you sure about this?ive made some tests online and my specs consume roughly 530~,i'm not an expert with this but i shouldnt have more than the build actually requires just in case it starts going too close to the full consume of the psu?

funnily enough i thought the same, but i also talked to a friend of mine who has plenty of experience with this stuff and told me it blew up due to weak wattage, but yeah id guess youre right,so this means it blew up cause of the psu that was extremly bad overall?

i cant at the moment since i went with it to the repair service,i was really scared when this happens cause i got this pc not so long ago,now that i think about it i shouldve give them only the psu 😛

480w on the 12v - that is a 'REAL' 500w model.
