My psu confusion

Okay so my retailer sold me this PSU and he says that this PSU is 500w and good enoughfor my i5-7400 cpu and rx 470 strix 4gb gpu.
But what confuses me is that down in total it says 300w, I told him that but he still claim it is 500w cause it is called platinum 500.
Can somebody tell me what it is then?

Not a true 500w , wouldn't trust anything on that label , very poor PSU.

It's not even close to a decent 300w , don't use it.

It's actually a 216W PSU on the 12V+.

Your right they are wrong. Avoid it completely.
