hi guys

i am trying to get into VR, i have seen couple of gpu that i like. problem is they need at least 750w of power and my psu is only 650w.

my psu is the Seasonic Focus GX and just wondering if they are still the brand to go for? so i could try find a Seasonic Focus GX 1000w?

many thanks guys

ok guys, the gpu i am thinking about getting is either rtx 3090 or rtx 4070 ti.

the 4070 ti power rating is 750w but the 3090 is only 450w but i am leaning more towards the 4070 ti.

few people once told me that i should get more watt on the psu than the gpu power rating.

should i be getting 1000w or would 850w be enough?
Dont go by that 450w on the 3090, it does not take into account the spikes.
For the 470ti 850w should be good enough...

Hello froggy8. If you're sticking with getting the RTX 4070 Ti and your CPU is of reasonable wattage, then my suggestion is not to upgrade your PSU at all. I suggest that you try the 4070 Ti with your existing power supply, as the transient spikes on the 40 series are much improved over the 30 series. However, if you decide to get the RTX 3090 then I would agree that you should to upgrade your PSU,

That is what I would do.
