[SOLVED] My psu sparked and died

Litterally after talking with my friend online, my psu sparked and power brick poped out. I was scared but there was no any damage to motherboard or any other components. So my question is why this happened and what are chances that my mobo is dead. I had some fractal design newton power supply and Im about to buy corsair mx500. Wish me luck guys.

Its platinum, 80+, 500 wat psu and I dont think its modular

Corsair doesn't have a 500w Platinum PSU, nor do they have a MX series. The smallest Platinum PSUs they offer are 750w(HX, HXi, and SF).

And the only non-modular 500W Platinum PSU listed on PC Part Picker is an FSP flex-ATX PSU which would be a very odd choice to randomly buy (and it's not listed with a price anywhere at the moment).

SF actually comes in 450W and 600W in Platinum AND Gold efficiencies. The 750W only comes Platinum and not Gold.

Avoid it. Its old. Been out of production for awhile, and weren't all that good when new. The newer CX550 is a much better option.
