@thogrom its to give people the faith that if u work at something like overclocking alot can be achieved and u don't have to fill the forum with stupid threads, im 15, look what i got, and ive never asked a single person on a forum how to overclock

Well at least you're proud of yourself eh? Have fun with those cookies you're baking. Silcone chipset cookies are yum! :sol:

I realize those are 100% load temps. Keep this in mind though.

The thermal limit for the Q6600 according to Intel is something like 70/72C. You're going to reach those temps before you hit 100% load.

The fact that you're running Prime 95 as long as you are, at 100% load, at 77C proves your statement earlier that you never asked for help. Otherwise you'd have been told it's a dumb idea to do such.

Don't whine on Tom's if/when your CPU fries.

Nuff Said.

EDIT: By the way. Looking at your picture more, it appears your four cores are 77/67/77/67 celcius? You're got some rather large gaps in temp differences there. I'd suggest remounting your Heatsink, as it apparently isn't mounted well, or doesn't have the proper amounts of thermal compound. Having a 10C difference between cores is pretty dramatic.

First off this is a friendly forum so the immature comments aren't needed guys. And yes he is right the Tjmax for the Q6600 is 90C as also stated at :
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/intel-dts-specs,news-29460.html

He is right with your core temps being +/-10 not being good. Either your sensors are getting stuck or you have an uneven spread of thermal paste or a concave chip / heatsink. So look into getting that fixed but other than that nice work!

i have my q6600@ 3.4ghz 1.400 vcore

Your proud that you can do something using common sense? I guess that is something to be proud of... Cause most people in this world lack it...

But seriously... most of the people here... ones who don't just post 10 times and then leave, actually built their first system by themselves w/o help... so coming here and doing I'm proud that i'm awesome and can do it by myself doesn't mean crap here

Especially at more serious forums, this forum is a joke compared to most

Those TJmax from intel are not correct...

check this quote

"How can this be?

I have a Q6600 G0 running on at 3ghz (333*9) and with a TJMax 100 (CoreTemp Default) it idles at 24~28*C with an Arctic Freezer Pro. Which sounds about right.

Ambient Temperature is around 15*C.

If I set my TJMax to 90, it reckons my chip idles at 14~18*C...

Sub-ambient with an air cooler....That is impressive :p (and not possible!)"

First off thogrom stop with the power trip, if you felt this way about what he has done you should have just backed out of the topic and left it alone its not hard. Second his temps are 77-67 meaning something isn't right like previously stated. Even with this though his max is only 5*C over 72 meaning what he decreases the life of his chip by hmm a year? two years? out of what 10? None of this information on the life of these chips are really known so how can any of you honestly say that his temps are doing damage? And say if i was right.. if it did decrease the life by a year or two.. or maybe even 5 years! Who honestly has the same computer for five years now? common.. give the him a little bit of a break.

But this isn't at another forum, this is here. If you people have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all. This kid was feeling all good about himself and just wanted to share what he had done. Giving suggestions on what he needs to fix is one thing but "flaming + pwning" him is another.

The OP is a joke, don't take up forum space when you have nothing to say. He didn't ask for any suggestions/help, + and - keys are not hard to master in the bios. BTW does this make me a prodigy? I've been doing this since I was 11. Also you cant work at getting a better binned chip

He also didn't ask to be flamed. And I think anyone knows that editing BIO's correctly is a little bit harder than +/-. Obviously over the years overclocking has gotten much easier, considering on my first computer 20mhz was a HUGE overclock which took a lot of tweaking to achieve. Honestly though why are you wasting your time flaming this kid, find something more productive to do.

semlethe3rd are you dumb? He didn't post for help. He posted to show off, and he did a lousy job at that.

The only reason i'm at this forum and not XS is because i don't have an xtreme build.

Kudos to OP for getting his q6600 to 3.7 ghz... not something I really care about. Yeah, I didn't have to post. But why not? Yeah but why did you join again semlethe3rd? You don't have anything helpful to say either.

At this point it comes down to this.

OP has a great cpu at a nice speed - temps maybe a bit high but they're fine

Topic should now end
