hi all

I just got a new computer with (first time OC)
CPU - Q6600
Mobo - Evga 780i
Ram - Twin 2 x 4096 - 6400C5G
PSU - 650 Ultra LSP
cpu cooling - DD water cool
video card - 8800GT 1Gb ram

I have try setting the CPU to 3.2 it doesn't even boot up. the setting i had was
1.35V for cpu
2.15V for ram
i try 9x or 8x for the cpu and both didn't work
i try setting the ram to 800mhz "when the cpu at 8x and 3.2Ghz"
still doesn't work. the max i when so far is 3.0 at 9x and memery at auto
windows boot but after 2 hrs of "Age Of Conan" it game me a blue screen.
i even try " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApUiWgzUkGM "
i copy every step and the computer doesn't even boot
I don't think the CPU temp is the cost of this caz my cpu high so far is about 32C

any idea of what can i do?

Thax for anyone who is reading this.

That means yours is not even stable at 3.0. what is your vid. depending on your vid, you might increase vcore.

umm... when I look at the "CPU Core setting" I put it to 1.30V right now but on "Current Value" it say 1.24V no matter if i put it to 1.30 or 1.35V....is that the reason i can't overclock?

gonf I haven't overclocked an nVidia motherboard in a long time, if you can't get an answer here I'd try googling for the processor + motherboard + overclock, and possibly try and track down the official forum for your board. Should increase your odds of finding people with similar issues and hopefully solutions!

when I go to System Monitor
cpu > 26c
Board > 31c
MCP > 55c
cpu core > 1.25v
CPU FSB > 1.38
Memory > 2.20V
+3.3V > 3.28V
+3.3V dual > 3.28V
+12V > 11.98V
+5V > 4.96V
+Vbat > 3.00V

on the system Voltages

i have it set setting current Value
CPU Core 1.30000 1.25V
CPU FSB Auto 1.4V
Memory 2.2000V 2.200V
nForce SPP Auto 1.30v
nForce MCP Auto 1.50V
HT nForce SPP <-> MCP auto 1.20V

GTLVREF Lane 0 +05mv +05mv
GTLVREF Lane 1 +05mv +05mv
GTLVREF Lane 2 +05mv +05mv
GTLVREF Lane 3 +05mv +05mv

and right now i'm runing at
CPU freq, MHz 2805.0
CPU Multiplier 9x
actual fsb (QDR),Mhz 1247
MEM (DDR), Mhz 935

this is what i'm at but if i go any higher then this windows doesn't load or it will load up for few hrs. all i want is a 3.2Ghz plz help

Yer i know nVidia isn't build for overclock but it is about super overclock vs 3 way SLI..... not like i have a choice. beside i'm not asking for too much only a 3.2Ghz on the Q6600 i've seen people online telling number like 3.6Ghz with air cooling. :(

LOL i know. the 3 video cards is only for when starcraft 2 is out i may get an upgrade for 2 to 3 8800 or even 9800.
which go back to i've read people getting pass 3.2 with the 650i which is like 2 lower then the 780i with the nVidia...

Nvidia and intel were fighting during the release of 780i, and quads dont run well on 780i because of it. Thats why 790i came out so quick.

Nvidia should license sli to intel if they really want to see what sli can do.

LOL why did i even go for nVidia LOL
I know about the q9450 i was thinking of getting that too but
tigerdirect was selling the q6600 for 180CAD so i was like "OMG so cheap"

4.0 Quad??? LOL i want to see the price tag for that one LOL
by the way want to ask one more thing whats the max you can push the
q6600 V core?
i hear 1.5 and i hear 1.45
do you know which is the true max core? caz when i set the damn 780i V core at 1.45 i can run windows but i'm not too sure if i can set it up that high.
i know with 1.25 is a walk in the park but 1.45V?? is that alright? for long run (as in 2-3 years) i know my CPU temp is not going to go up by that much caz i'm useing a DD water cool but still don't want to push it too high

1.5V for 65nm and 1.45v for 45nm.

In your case, it's 1.5V. Staying below this vcore and assuming reasonable temps, you should expect at least 3years, so don't worry. By the time your pc breaks, you would already have a new one.

you will get way more then 3 years. well in fact those people(include me) giving you how long something will last dont even know how long their own CPU or in fact the whole system will last before something fails. not even Intel! they might give you a estimate from a number but its not for sure.

but 1 thing if you run your CPU at 1.6v all the time sure it will die pretty quick.

Hence why I said "at least" since Intel guarantees 3 years with voltages up to 1.5v, it's common sense to expect at least 3years.

But I agree, it should be more than 3 years. Well, it really depends on how often you use your pc and what you do. My friend's P4 died within 4 years, no OCing 2.8GHz. He used it 8hours a day and gamed a lot.

thax for all the help : ) so i take that i'll be find with the cpu running at 1.45V then. i have it running at 3.2Ghz with 1.45 right now. i've try "SuperPI" with the 1 core running at 100% at a time the temp was about 37c max for like 1 sec then it will drop back to about 34's. and i also try tunning 3DMark06 and it every thing seem alright. by the way i have one more question. do you guys thing 2 8800gt is batter "i alrdy have 1" or 1 9800 is batter?

Gonf! Got it running yet?

And what the other guy wants to know... If your run the program Core temp, it will list something called VID, can you tell us what that VID is?

Also, when you have 1.3000 in the bios selected, you boot into windows and CPUz shows it as 1.2500, when you run Prime 95 small FFTs torture test on all 4 cores, what does CPUz show the core voltage go down to?

Ie, it may go from 1.2500 to 1.21xxx when running small ffts on all 4 cores.

Please list those things if you dont mind!
