So recently I was checking temperatures for my r9 290, it was really high such as 91-93 Celsius while playing games. I decided to get speedfan and msi afterbuner to make my fan speed highers, so i started playing some overwatch. After some games it was fine then when I go into a teamfight i start to get lag and its very slow, in order to fix this I have to restart my game or my pc. I have to let it rest in order for it to appear again so fast. I don't want to keep doing this so is there any fix? (This never happend before, I've had this card for almost a year now, and I changed the fan speeds back to normal.)

edit: I also got a new monitor could this be the reason?

Solution
The new monitor would only be an issue if it's higher resolution than your old one, causing the card to work harder.

Sounds like the main issue is the temperature, you need to get it down a bit. I assume you clean the inside of your PC from time to time and blow the dust out? If so, then maybe the thermal paste has dried out and needs replacing....I do my R9 290X every 6 months and it make about a 5 degree difference.

Ok thanks, I added a fan curve with msi afterburner helped with temp getting 68-71 Celsius while playing games. To fix the stutter lag I used a system scanner from the overwatch community (sfc /scannow), but i fix to clean my pc havent done it in a long time also fixing the top case fan. I might buy more fans to get cooler temps. Thanks for everything!
