So I built this 6 months ago. Last month my motherboard started giving me a DRAM light and wouldn't boot. Uh oh, I think, so I reseat the RAM a few times. The problem goes away. Run Windows Memory Diagnostics. No problems found.

A few weeks later, same issue. I move the RAM around different slots. I determine the computer will not boot with a specific stick installed. Stick A will boot the computer, stick B will not, and sticks A and B will not.

I put the RAM in my buddy's computer, it boots. I put his RAM in my computer, it boots. I try to boot my computer with my RAM again, nothing. I'm currently booted with just stick A.

I have no idea where the problem is. At this point I can't run any more memory diagnostics on both sticks. But both sticks are clearly not broken enough to fail to boot my buddy's computer. I reset my CMOS via battery removal, didn't solve it. I changed BIOS over from AI tweaker to DOCP Standard memory profile, didn't solve it. I'm considering a BIOS and driver rollback but that seems dramatic.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Some extra info: The RAM is not on the QVL for the board, but some extremely similar sets (like, the 2*4Gb version of my RAM) are. The RAM meets the timing specs for the board. Could bringing the timings down help? Am I just shit out of luck? It's so weird that it would work perfectly for 6 months and then just stop. I'm convinced it's some sort of RAM/mobo issue which is why I've posted it here...

UPDATE: Have rolled back BIOS to last previous version that worked, still no dice.

Are you using BIOS version 1201?
Also what exact model is the ram kit.
I am using the ram kit listed in my signature with BIOS 1201 and I have not had any issues since I built this rig last November.
I have rad a few post where people using the newer BIOS version have had ram and cold boot issues.
