My Res is very small when i first reach the logon screen

My resolution is very small like it looks like i have no video drivers installed when i reach the logon screen. Then when i logon the screen goes black after 20 seconds or less. then my resolution is back to normal. And one time this cause my computer to just restart out of no where. Is my video card dieing ? I have
2 980s in Sli
MSI gaming 7 x99 mobo
no over clocks

Also its not all the time
