Hello,

In the past 2 weeks two strange things happened: I am not able to connect to the servers of two casino sites which uses as a client that I can install on my windows 10 PC. Both of the casinos said that their website and their servers are completely fine so it must be on my end.

I have not done any changes to my router but it's strange that I am getting more and more problems with connections.

What could cause these sudden issues which I never ever had before?

Thanks!

Things I'd like to add: site one works when I turn on the VPN and connect from another country. The other site works regardless, the support confirmed that on their end there are no issues and it's possible to download the software.

So it's really me.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Also include make and model router.

The router's logs, if available and enabled, may provide some clue.

Who has full admin rights to the router? You will need help from that person.

Specs: My specs

Modem: DX3101-BO (it's from A1 in Austria) - is this all the info you need regarding modem?

I am the full admin of my home modem.

@COLGeek I am not sure. Where would I check that? I got a new PC 6 months ago and moved to a new apartment and have not fiddled around with any settings.

The dns is set in the IPv4 settings on the nic. Try to set it to 8.8.8.8 and if that doesn't work try 1.1.1.1 The default is to use your ISP dns which can be less stable.
While you are in there disable the IPv6 this can also cause this problem.

Yes, that fixed one issue. I am actually downloading the software now. It worked right after changing it to 8.8.8.8.

The other website still does not load and it did not fix the issue. Can you try accessing the casino site Lottomatica.it ? I will not post a link as it might be scary for some. Maybe they made a global IP block besides Italy, but I am not sure. But hey, at least adding 8.8.8.8 to the DNS setting allowed me to download the other one!

Maybe it is a hint you should keep your money in your pocket :)

That site is strange it did not load and seems to have blocked even icmp traffic after responding to 1 ping. It is being blocked by the server because I can see the traffic get all the way to italy.

It uses the same IP address, I checked in 4 or 5 of the dns servers I use so changing the DNS will not fix that one if there is only 1 actual server. The reason DNS fixes things is some/most servers are now in cloud data centers that for performance and redundancy have the "server" split over multiple data centers.

So if you really want to give your money to the casino you can use the fairly standard method to bypass location based restrictions. Find a vpn service that has a data center located in italy. Your IP will appear to come from that location. Now this assumes that the casino is really only pretending to block you for say government regulations. They will know about the VPN hack and if they really want they could find and block all the IP used by the more popular vpn providers. They can only go so far. This does nothing to stop the person who sets up his own VPN service say using amazon cloud services. No site would be brave enough to block all amazons IP addresses. Problem is most this type of vpn service you have a data cap so it can get expensive if you use it for say large downloads.
