[SOLVED] My router/modem loses internet connection(failure in pinging the default gateway), refreshing connection solves it

This happens sometimes every few minutes and sometimes can work for long periods of time without failing.

What I'm seeing in the diagnostics of my TD-W9970 is a failure in pinging the default gateway.

After disconnecting/connecting in the WAN settings page, internet comes back.
 
Solution
If you are losing the WAN connection, there is very little YOU can do. You can put a new cable from your modem/router to the outside of your house. That is the only cable you are responsible for. Everything else is the responsibility of the ISP. I think you need to call your service provider.
