Have you assigned yourself an IP such as 192.168.1.2 and tried pinging the router on 192.168.1.1 (default for the router). DHCP may be disabled. If you can ping it, try opening a browser and navigating to 192.168.1.1 and see if you hit the login page. admin/admin
Yes I have tried that. I get this message when pinging it.

Edit. I forgot to assign IP 192.168.1.2 in that message. After doing so I get this error.
