Hello folks,
I got a R5 1600AF 12nm, had one intake and one exhaust fan and my cpu was hitting 90 degree celcius a couple days ago. So i went on and got two more 1000rpm 12cm case fans and a new thermal paste ( Arctic mx4 2019)
Researched a bit and with my 4 fans it would be good to put 3 intake and one exhaust, internet said there would be a positive air pressure.
But after all my temps were lowered by just 3 degree celcius. I tested it today and it hit to 87 degree... It makes me so uncomfortable, what to do?

I got;
16gb ddr4 3000mhz ram
r5 1600af
rx580 8gb nitro+

@drivinfast247 so you recommend me doing 2 intake and 2 exhaust?, that i can do.

@punkncat I am sure i fully tightened the screws of my cpu cooler, but it is the stock one came with cpu. I've seen people running the same processor but cooler temperatures than mine. What's the catch on this?

@punkncat yes, you're right. after removing the side tempered glass it only reached 73 degree celcius, which is okay for me. Any advices? Should i go for 2 intake and 2 exhaust (one back and one top)

OP, what case are you using?

Be aware that MOST of the "pretty RGB fan up front" tempered glass cases are actually terrible (air flow) for the products in which people often pair them with. Generally speaking they have little to no venting in relation to a stack of RGB intake fans doing nothing.

the stock fan is enough to keep it under TJMax (95-100'c), and 90'c is not critical (YET). but remember the RX 580 is dumping heat into the case as well, so it's more a matter of how much cool air is flowing over the CPU heatsink
check you motherboard profile for the CPU fans as well?

1000RPMs is low compared to 12-1600's out there.
or 3500 on an Enermax DF Storm ;)

Zen+ heats up - a lot. You could try undervolting the CPU a bit, make sure you have a recent BIOS (some early ones had a tendency to overvolt the CPU), and make sure you have both a recent version of Windows 10 and the AMD chipset drivers installed. Tinkering with the fan curve could help too.

I recommend using a decent cooler for it. I had the same issue with my 1600AF. even +.050V made it shoot up to 95C+ in stress testing with stock cooler. I purchased a kinda cheapy air cooler from Amazon and the Artic MX4 thermal compound and it never went over 75C in stress testing after that.

I have my 1600AF clocked to 4100 all core at 1.26V and get within a 20 points single core and 100 points all core in Cinebench R20 of my 3600 oc'd to 4200. I have an X570 board with the 3600 and am running an MSI B450 Bazooka V2 with the 1600AF. In games like Warzone, I do average about 15-30 fps higher with my 3600 using my 5600XT and vega 56 on both, but I am also using Trident Z Neo 3600mhz cl18 ram on my 3600 vs ripjaws V 3200mhz CL16 with the 1600AF. And that is on all high settings. I fiddled with the settings a little and lowered some a tad and was able to run about 85-100fps on average in warzone with the 1600AF vs 100-110 on maxed out settings with the 3600 with the vega56, and it was roughly 10 or so fps higher with the 5600XT. When I ran the 3600 with a b450 and 3600mhz ram, it wasnt really much change from the x570. Marignally maybe -5fps or so. which is weird because Right now I am using a old i5 4690k@4.5ghz and ddr3 ram @2133mhz cl 14 with the vega 56 and on the same settings as the 1600 AF I am getting 85ish fps in 1080p, albeit my cpu usage is maxed at 100% but neither the video card or cpu temps run over 70 and 60C respectively. With that cooler on the 1600AF I never ran over 65C in game with an open case and it never went over 70C with closed case. I used this case for the build...

I did remove the front clear plastic cover for better airflow and it stayed under 65C. Hope this helps out. for a budget build the 1600AF is great and is very capable at gaming. GL bud.
