I think it's overheating because it's incredibly hot when I touch it but I've opened the case and put a fan right next to it and still freezes and goes all pixaly. It also says that the driver has stopped working then recovered when I alt tabbed so, I tried different GPU drivers and updated to the latest version and that still didn't work. Help would be greatly appreciated

Here's a picture of what the screen looks like when it's pixalated

when your case is open make sure that your fan is turning on your graphics card.. also get a can of air and blow out the dust in it if it is a reference design it might help to take the shroud off and give it a good cleaning. also consider lowering any overclock settings.

Have you done any temp testing? Download "CPU temp" and "GPU temp" and tell me what the numbers are after a couple minutes of gameplay, even if it's pixelated.

Also make sure your GPU drivers are up to date.

I cleaned my computer and graphics card yesterday with an air can.

Yes my GPU drivers are up to date I also tested the beta drivers to see if there was an improvement to no avail.

here is the temp on all the devices, the values on the max tab are what they were just before and during the pixel crash Also this is while the computer is open and has a fan right next to it yet it still gets quite hot and crashes.

The picture is too small for me to see anything.

sorry sent wrong sized one hopefully you can read this one, reply back if you can't

Well you shouldn't be overheating then. All of those temps are very normal under load. To be honest I don't really know. Your GPU never even cracked 70c...so it's not overheating. It does this for EVERY game?

Yes it does, it could be a ram problem from what one person has told me but I doubt since it since as I alt tab to get out of the pixelated screen it has a little window in the bottom left saying AMD Driver has stopped responding and has recovered, or something along the lines of that

Well if it says that every time, then it's likely a driver issue. Have you tried a slightly older driver?

yes I've tried old drivers ones from months ago

And its only while in game right? Everything else it perfectly normal outside of game?

yes only in games

I'm using the SAPPHIRE HD 6970

It uses the Catalyst Control Center

Sorry in advance I don't really overclock or underclock my graphics card so I wouldn't know what I'm doing. So would I do this via BIOS and if so how? And would changing the graphics card to those settings overclock it cause I wouldn't know

sorry for late reply got busy. Okay I got in the catalyst control center but the sliders are already set to what you told me to set them too

sorry for late reply Christmas has been delaying me. I can set cpu to 800 but not memory clock to 1250 I'll attempt now and see if that changes anything.

Update: Yep still did the pixel thing

yep every graphic intensive game

shadow warrior (the remake)
sleeping dogs
natural selection 2
red faction guerrilla (of all things that old game)
etc
