My sons Dell laptop crashed, reformmated D drive instead of C when I reinstalled Win 7...how do I get that OS onto C drive..wi

Need to get an OS system on my sons crashed Dell laptop..no recovery disk that came with laptop, used one of my older recovery Dell disk and installed XP on the D drive instead of the C drive..how do I get the C drive to be the primary OS?

If his Dell has a Windows 7 sticker with an activation key, download the exact same version of Windows 7 as a disk image from HERE, burn to a DVD, do a clean install. Then activate with your key.

Do it as a custom install and delete all existing partitions, then install to the remaining single unpartioned space. This is best done with no additional HDDs/SSDs attached, just the intended boot drive and the optical drive(s).

Id remove that as there's little likelihood that the driver packages are the same between the two.....format C:\ and install again.....use a downloaded or borrowed Windows 7 CD and apply the product key from the son's laptop after installing
