If your having random slow downs while computing then you will have to troubleshoot on your side to find what the problem is. Start on the software side.

1st - Download CCleaner. Click on Tools. Now uninstall any unused program. Please use common sense about this and don't uninstall something your not 100% sure you don't need. If you're unsure, ask us. But get rid of any software that for example sony might have put on there like cd/dvd burning software you don't use.

2nd - re-open CCleaner and go to cleaner section and run the cleaner. Might take a bit if its your first time. Be patient.

3rd - do the registry section as...

3rd - do the registry section as well. Make a back up if your paranoid.

4th - click on the windows start icon, type msconfig click on start up tab. Now check to make sure you don't have an overabundant amount of things starting up. It's hard to say what you may have listed but for example I only have 5 things that start up. Ask if your unsure.

5th - If you have a Hard disk drive and not a solid state drive run disk defragment and go make a cup of coffee because it might take a bit.

Report back.

Solution
@Skaz,
I'm done with the first 3 steps.. there are 14 things running at present (some i've already disabled)..should I also disable google update.. i also wanted to clarify about IAStore icon.. nd groovemonitor utilities..

regards,
Urvashi

Depends on what its for. If your using chrome I would keep the google update.

Keep IAStoreicon, it is associate with Intel rapid recovery technology. Other programs may need this to operate correctly.

The groovemonitor is for office, It isn't necessary though unless you need syncing and file sharing capabilities. Source: http://www.killertechtips.com/2009/05/10/groovemonitor-exe/

EDIT: If you need help with the other start up programs you can upload a picture of what's listed and we can pick and choose. I would do the defrag first though and then see how your overall performance feels after doing all those steps. Once that is done click on the windows icon and type resource monitor, hit enter, now click memory tab. Look at the colorful bar at the bottom. Tell me ( or take a picture ) what each 5 colored blocks say. And over on the CPU tab what does it say your CPU usage percentage is at the moment?
