My ssd only works for 5 seconds

It is a 240gb PNY ssd. When first plugged in, it works for about, 5 seconds, and then disappears from the list of drives. If you unplug and replug just the power, it works again for 5 seconds. If you unplug and replug just the data cable, it still ceases to function.
How can I make it work?

Try leaving it plugged in for a few hours. PNY's if their internal index corrupts then the ssd will go offline while it rebuilds it.
Ssds are pretty fast, 5 seconds can do a lot of work.

No I agree with the above it's probably fixing itself up but you keep interrupting it. If that doesn't work try new SATA cables (power and actual SATA) and a different SATA port on your board
