Hi there,
I recently bought a new motherboard and cpu the P8H61-M LX R2.0 and the i5 3570. I put it all together, but nothing works. Not even the fans. There is only a green light on the motherboard that lights on. I have read that it might be because I have to update the bios to a newer a version and the only way doing that is by using a none ivy bridge cpu. So I am thinking of ordering a used intel celeron G550. Will it work? Are there any other possible problems? (I am pretty sure that the psu, hard drive and ram work perfectly)

Solution

Yes. You need to verify the BIOS is up-to-date before suspecting something else.

Honestly, I think it would be easier to just return the motherboard; if you're buying a used motherboard anyway, you might as well get one that actually works with CPU out-of-the-box.
