my system is running on xp but i tried to install windows 7 from an ISO but the installation is not properly occured and aborted automatically now situation is whenever my i start my pc it asks for earlier version of windows and windows setup. i can't go to windows setup as i don't have windows 7 DVD and not XP's too. help me!!!

Im guessing you mounted the iso file and started the install. Well you learned the hard way that that doesn't work. You either need to use that iso to create a DVD using a program like imgburn(http://www.imgburn.com/), or use the iso to create a bootable usb drive(http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool).

You won't beable to install windows 7 from an iso (unless you're just upgrading from vista, which is not your case).
You should burn the .iso image onto a DVD-R and try to install from that.

(If you try to install from an .iso, when you reboot your system the image would be unmounted, and therefore unable to continue the installation)

hey thnx for your solution u got it what i had done, but on my 2nd system whenever i installed windows 7 i always follow this way ( mounting ISO) weather i am migrating from windows 7 any version to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit or windows 8 64bit but i don't know whats the problem going on when i try to migrate from xp to windows 7

There is no upgrade path from a 32 bit operating system to a 64 bit operating system, Period!
