Hello Community :)

I made a thread asking for advice on under $2,000 build here last week. I got a lot of great help from the community. Well I ended up going a bit over budget...

I just received my first pieces in the mail today! It's been 10 years since I've built a PC (although I've built dozens) I'm so excited and a bit intimidated. A lot has changed! (for example I don't see any pins on my cpu??)

So I'm still waiting on a few essential components but here's what I've got today (with picture):

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Swiftech H220X2 Prestige
Motherboard: MSI Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
Storage: 5TB WesternDigital Black
Power Supply: SeaSonic X Series 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980Ti 6GB XTREME GAMING OC EDITION
Mouse: Deathadder chroma w/ Razer FireFly mousepad
Monitor: Acer Predator xb271hu

I'm still waiting on Phanteks Eclipse Series PH-EC416PSW_WT Glacier White Steel ATX Mid Tower Cases (Computer Cases - ATX Form)
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro - Full Version (32 & 64-bit) / USB Flash Drive
Logitech Z906 500W 5.1 Speakers
Corsair Gaming K70 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Aircraft-Grade Aluminum (CH-9000118-NA)
High Back White Leather Executive Swivel Office Chair with Flip-Up Arms
Intel 750 Series AIC 1.2TB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

I really appreciate all the help so far from the community especially: James Mason, logainofhades, g-unit1111, and CerealBox21.

I will need help I think with some of the specifics in the building process once I get everything in, anyone here willing to help is greatly appreciated. A lot of money to mess up with :)
I know I can read posts/watch youtube and I have been, just sometimes need specific questions answered.

For example, all of the pictures of the cooler I have seen show it mounted on the top of the case. i watched a youtube video of my case saying you couldnt use the top for AIO and needed to use the front...Is it interchangeable? Will it be ok for me to install my AIO in the front?

Also, the case might come with a fan or two do I need to buy more?

Someone on newegg comments said they bought new speaker wires for the speaker system is this really necessary?

Any tips in general? I will be following this thread closely and greatly appreciate the kindness and patience I've been shown here !

Solution

I think it should be fine - there isn't much you can do to route those cables elsewhere. That build looks very solid! I like that case choice, I should go add it to my favorites at PC Part Picker.
What a beast! I hope the bathroom and refrigerator are close by. You'll never leave that room. May as well put your bed in there.

As far as fans go I'd wait to see how the ventilation is and what temps are like. You can easily add a fan or two later if needed.

first of all congratz and we are happy to assist you.
i answer the questions i know , cant do all of them:S

Also, the case might come with a fan or two do I need to buy more?
i would, good airflow is important.
theyre expensive but i recommand the noctua nf-f12 pwm, theyre the best airflow+most silent one.
but noctua is a premium brand +premium price :S

otherwise the corsair airpack series duo pack is a godo budget alternative

-no a signal is a signal , this ois only needed if the distance is very far like 5m+

patience patience patience it can take up to 10hours for your 1st time .

Thanks! It's like a dream come true, I'll believe it when it's all hooked up. Right now I've got my wife's SurfaceBook hooked into the Predator because I couldn't wait to use it and the mouse/mousepad combo...I'm using minidisplay port to HDMI converter and the image quality is horrible lol
Atleast I hope it is because of that I expect this monitor to blow my mind after all I've read about it. (EDIT: I think its the cable I can't get it to go more than 1920x1080)

Nice haul! Should be a solid system when all is put together.

Your radiator should have a couple of them built in so that will add to the total amount of fans you have. You can always buy more if you need to.

Don't think I would have included a chair in my budget but that is about it. Although personally I would not have spent $1K on an SSD, I would have gone with a 950 Pro M2 drive and a mass storage drive but if you've already ordered everything then that is fine.

Ok so, here's the story so far :) (typing this on my phone)
It is almost finished, just waiting on the 750
It's 630am and I normally try to go to bed around 11pm... I have been working on this pc since 7... someone I think said it would take 11 hours they were right hah.

I ran in to so many scares along the way.
And by the way none of the tutorials I found cover any of the basic stuff like what each cable looks like or what has to plug into the motherboard. I Googled like over 100 times I'm sure.

I thougot i might have killed the cpu for all the pushing and pulling I did to get the water block on that alone took me an hour.
This was my first time doing cable management it's a disgrace compared to clean builds I've seen but I think I did a good job.
I accidently left the plastic on the waterblock, but I remembered before it was too late and had to reinstall it.
I probably put too much paste, and some of it dripped down and got on some pci-e which scared me.
The gpu wouldn't fit behind the tubes for the cpu... I had to twist it and turn it and even bent some Heats ink fins to get it in and then I found out there was a piece of plastic covering the connection thingy... so I had to maneuver it back out and take it off and repeat...

So I've taken some pics, I wanted to know:

Is it ok that my gpu is touching the water tubes?

I don't have the energy to clean...tomorrow comes mounts for speakers and the ssd. And then I will make it look nice etc.

Im going to pass out now. Thank you Tom's hardware.

EDIT:
It's almost 7 and ssd is still in delivery truck....they are killing me!

It's fine if the tubes are touching the GPU on the side. Looks great!
