Why does my task manager look like this sometimes? Usually there is a divided line in between running programs and processes but sometimes they look like they're mixed up. What is wrong and how do you fix this?

Click on view.
Put a check in group by type.

you are sorting them by the column with the little arrow (memory) so its showing the process with the most ram usage at top.
if you click on the Name header, it will show them in categories

If you click on name header, you get

If you click on memory you get

or similar.
what header you pick sorts it accordingly

And you can also click inside the column headers (CPU, Memory, Disk, Network, GPU) to sort the column into descending or ascending order.

Note the small upward or downward pointing arrows that indicate the current sort.
