My task manager won t open for more than 1 second

Hello,
When my computer has an error, which it does often, I try to open the task
manager. It always closes almost as soon as i open it. All I see is its
window flash, and then disappear. The task manager icon stays in my toolbar
at the bottom of the screen, though. If i move my mouse over any of the
icons it disapears. What is going on?

I don't think thats going to be the cpu or a component?
Me thinks that'll be software corruption, possibly virus.

Almost certainly a virus, and most likely one of the really hard ones to get rid of...

What happens if you try and go to norton.com or avg.com

Do you get frequent web pages refusing to load or pop-ops about installing anti-virus software? If so definitely a virus, most likely a browser hijacker....

Do a google search (from a clean PC) regarding your symptoms and search for hijackthis, some useful advice that may be relevant.
