my toshiba hard drive doesn't function well the movies i copied in there always stops. sometimes files can't read and it says

please help me my Toshiba External hard drive does not work well although its brand new. i keep on clicking the files I've copied to another device the files won't work. Especially the movies i copied ,it keeps on stoping.please help me.

Can you make something a bit clearer? The files that won't work are ones that you had on the Toshiba external drive and then copied to another device, or the files on the Toshiba external drive? In the first case, will they play from the Toshiba drive?

As WyomingKnott already suggested, it will be good if you provide some more clarification on the issue you are facing.

Though you can try some basic troubleshooting steps like using a different USB cable or connecting the device to another computer. Another thing you can do is to test the hard drive with a brand specific diagnostic software.
