My toshiba laptop ( c55-a5300 ; windows 8 ) mouse not working

My toshiba laptop ( c55-a5300 ; Windows 8 ) mouse is not working. It works before logging in with password but after opening it works for less than one minute before it freezes. It seems to do this while yahoo messenger or tango programs are loading. All help is appreciated.

Wireless? Check batteries to start with. If you have a volt meter it should be 1.56 volts fully charged.

The battery is rather new and in perfect working condition. I'm clueless as to what to do. @reedo_43
