My toshiba windows 8 laptop have a blank screen

Each time i press the power button all the keyboards and power button light and the screen stay black. .... I'm not sure but i guess that happened just after i updated the bios from the toshiba updates i tried to connect it to a monitor and to remove the battery , clean the ram i would be thankful for any suggestions except to restore it

laptops have 2 batteries compared to 1 on desktops. the battery you removed is what helps it to be a laptop instead of a desktop. the 2nd battery which is the cmos battery usually a cr2032 battery is the one you want to remove without the laptop being connected to the power adapter. that battery might be in the hard drive bay on the bottom side of the laptop or be under the keyboard. remove main battery & disconnect power adapter from laptop then press the power button & hold for 10 seconds. reconnect the power adapter but not the battery, cross your fingers & press the power button.
