my tv screen goes black randomly only on pc

i have my pc and my ps4 connected to an LG 60UH6035 4k smart tv and just recently the screen will randomly go black (for a second or two) then back on. the indicator light doesnt change at all so the tv isnt actually turning on and off. this only happens when connected to my pc, and happens more frequently some times than others. i just bought a new hdmi cord and tried the other two i have, all 3 yield the same result. i have a gtx 980 sc with all the drivers up to date and temps are fine. im clueless and would greatly appreciate any help i can get. UPDATE 03/20/17 - Ive now tried it with a different gpu (radeon hd 7700) and the onboard graphics from my intel 6700k and the tv has been repaired since still under warrenty. The repairman repalaced the main board, which did not fix the problem. I don't think it could be the tv since both my wii u and my ps4 run perfectly fine and never have this problem, not even once. I am beyond confused at this point

Only one hdmi port on the gtx 980 and I've tried all ports on tv

display port was what I used when I had my monitor but my TV doesn't have dp but fortunately it stopped when I tried another hdmi port again. I don't know what it liked this time as opposed to last time but I haven't seen it flicker yet. Still not going to say it's "solved"
