My USB dongle doesn't connect to 5ghz networks

I recently bought this dongle https://www.amazon.co.uk/high-performance-technology-Frequency-adjustable-Raspberry/dp/B01C2N2O8S/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1475442936&sr=8-8&keywords=5ghz+wireless+adapter It clearly says that it can connect to GHz networks however it doesn't let me connect to any as they don't show up.The network works fine for my phone and other device so it isnt a network side problem.

If the wireless network doesn't even show then it's either because the dongle doesn't support 5Ghz or it's operating in 2.4Ghz mode only. Even if that dongle supports 5Ghz (which is questionable) it doesn't support simultaneous 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.
