hii all
I purchased this wireless USB modem yesterday http://www.mtsindia.in/Delhi/MBlazeUltra_prepaid.html
It connects and works fine, but i have a weird problem. It ejects automatically, the application says "Device Lost: Removing the device while in use might damage your device or your computer. Use Safely Remove Hardware before you unplug" (and I hear the USB device removal notification sound)
But then within half a second, it says "Connecting device", and everything works okay again! ( I hear the USB device found notification sound)
In Windows Event Log, i have this entry:-
"CoId={E35CB634-A45C-42A5-B2AE-4D3BA15E21D6}: The user ProBook\John dialed a connection named MBlaze USB Modem which has terminated. The reason code returned on termination is 630."
Few more info:
1>This doesn't happen a lot, maybe once or twice a day.
2>Other USB devices (My Lumia 925, Microsoft USB mouse, Seagate external hard drives, HP flash drives, etc) don't have this problem, i can keep them connected all day.
3>Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit, is fully updated, and I have every driver available on the HP website installed.
4>This happens only once or twice a day, so it cannot be reproduced at the ISP tech support outlet, unless some tech decides to spend one whole day on my laptop- which is not a plausible option.
5>Happens purely randomly, without a trigger i can think of. It sometimes occurs when I'm connected to the internet but not doing anything for a long time. But then it sometimes occurs in the middle of a 6Mbps IDM download.
Can someone please help me with this? It's not a deal breaker, but it's annoying to have a new hardware behave this way 🙁
Thanks.

Thanks for replying Patrick :)
here's the image of my device manager:
Capture.jpg

I have uninstalled all the USB things in device manager, then uninstalled the Software that came with the device.
Restarted and let the computer install USB ports again.
Plugged in the modem and installed the modem software.
Connected to the internet.
Stayed connected for about two hours.
And the same thing happened again.
I hear that USB removal ding, "Device Lost" warning, followed by the USB plugged-in ding, "Connecting Device". Windows event log has the same reason code returned on termination is 630 error.
What's going on? What shall I do now? 🙁
Thanks

Could you provide pictures properties device manager for the USB manager what settings are available? Are you using USB 3.0 or 2.0 for the modem?

Make sure USB selective suspend setting is turned off . (power options)

From this website: http://www.chicagotech.net/raserrors.htm#Error 630 - The port was disconnected due to hardware failure

Error 630 - The port was disconnected due to hardware failure

1. Check that the modem is plugged in, and if necessary, turn the modem off, and then turn it back on.
2. Check if your modem is being given a bad init string - with a command that it does not support.
3. Check if another program is already using the modem, or, if the modem or serial port's resources configuration is incorrect.
4. Reboot your computer and try it again.
5. If that doesn’t work, go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems -> Diagnostics and get More Info from your modem. If it fails, your modem driver is corrupt and needs to be re-installed.
6. Update the modem drivers.

Patrick, do you mean this image:

Checked "power options", the selective suspend was indeed turned on. Just turned it off, let's see how that goes, I'll report back what happens :)
The computer has two USB 2 ports, and two USB 3 ports.
I haven't tried plugging it in to a USB 3 port, using USB 2, cause I thought i'll keep the USB 3 ports free for my external HDDs..
Our next shot will be trying it on a USB 3 port I guess.. But let's first see if turning off selective suspend does anything.
Thanks for your help! :)

hii Orlbuckeye :)
Thanks for helping :)
"1. Check that the modem is plugged in, and if necessary, turn the modem off, and then turn it back on."
I've plugged it out and in at least 10 times, the issue always reoccurs 🙁
"2. Check if your modem is being given a bad init string - with a command that it does not support."
How do I check this? I didn't configure the modem myself. Just plugged it in, and Windows automatically ran an installer, installed and configured the connection for me. The installer is included in the modem itself, it has a small in-built memory that functions as a flash drive containing the installer software and an autorun.inf
"3. Check if another program is already using the modem, or, if the modem or serial port's resources configuration is incorrect. "
Again, how do I check this? I didn't configure anything manually, everything was done automatically by the in-built software..
"4. Reboot your computer and try it again."
Done this numerous times, uninstalled and reinstalled the modem software, uninstalled and reinstalled the USB ports, nothing helped..
"5. If that doesn’t work, go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems -> Diagnostics and get More Info from your modem. If it fails, your modem driver is corrupt and needs to be re-installed. "

I have no idea what these mean, are these okay?
Sorry but I'm not an expert, maybe you can suggest what next to do? I have turned off USB selective suspend in power options, as advised by Patrick, we'll wait and see if that does help things, but other than that, i have no idea what to do 🙁

Patrick, here's the power tab:
Capture.jpg

Interestingly, it says i have a bluetooth radio plugged in. But I don't. It's showing the laptop's internal bluetooth device as an USB device!
These are the properties of the first "Generic USB Hub", there are so many USB things listed in device manager, am I uploading pictures of the correct USB port?
Thanks :)

diagnostics and get more info; seems fine to me . could you check "events" tab? Make sure allow this computer to turn off device to save power is disabled on USB modem & USB port "power management tab" .

you should use the port which has the modem attached,

Patrick, when I click on "Events", there's a button "View all events",
If I click on that, Event log opens with two entries:

How do I know which is the port in which the modem is connected? None of the ports say anything about a modem!
Unchecked "allow this computer to turn off device to save power" on all the USB things that have this option.
And disabled "Selective suspend" in power options, as you suggested.
It's connected for about an hour and a half after that, and it hasn't auto-ejected yet.
Let's see if this fixes the issue. Fingers crossed!
Thanks again Patrick, I wouldn't know what to do if you weren't helping :)

It did this again 😛
Power profile-->High Performance
USB selective suspend-->Turned off
"Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" turned off for all USB ports in device manager.
And yet, the modem randomly auto-ejects!
If i shake the modem, i hear a noise inside. As if there's a small piece of something that's loose, and is striking the interiors of the plastic casing? Could the device itself be defective?
No other USB device I have, exhibits this auto-eject behavior. It's only the new modem. It has done this from day one.
