Hi folks...

I am building a new gaming desktop for myself. I have a full sized tower and want to buy an Intel based full sized ATX motherboard.
The video card for this system has DDR6 memory in it.

Am I going to see any real world difference between populating my new motherboard with DDR6 as opposed to DDR5?

I have just over 200 Mbps down load speed now, and I am moving to the telco's Gigabit service. Speeds at my house
will be in the range of 800 to maybe as high as 900Mbps up and down.

Opinions welcomed.

Thank you,

Solution
Only if you want to wait until 2029. That is when Samsung has projected the release date for DDR6 DIMMs will be, and the first sticks will be DDR6-12800
The GDDR6 ram used in graphics cards have no connection to anything else.
That ram is used only by the card itself.

On the motherboard, you can pick either DDR4 based or DDR5.
Today, performance is comparable, and DDR4 ram and motherboards will be much less expensive.

Got it! Thank you folks for all the great help. I have not built a desktop in at least six years. I am so behind on everything! I am getting old I guess.

I really appreciate all the help and great advice!
