My whole PC stops responding randomly every 30 minutes or so?

I will be doing anything and suddenly the whole system will not respond, my task bar will go black, every program will "not respond" at the same time, however I can still move the cursor but alt tabbing does nothing and ctrl-alt-del does nothing. Then after a minute or so it'll all start working again as if nothing happened and anything I did while it was not responding will very quickly happen.

Why's it doing this?

CPU: Intel i5-4670k
GPU: Nvidia GTX 770 EVGA
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 (MS-7821)

Have you checked Event Viewer for clues? Press/click Start/Windows and begin typing "event viewer". Check the warnings and errors around the time of the most recent or last known lockup.
