my wifi is faster than ethernet?

so here is the thing, I have two computers on Ethernet ( asus g75 lapop and a custom desktop with asus rog formula motherboard.) and I have a desktop on wifi. the desktop on wifi gets 10.6Mb/s and the laptop and desktop get around 8.3Mb/s. I am wondering why this is. any help?
