My wifi works on all other devises (laptop, phones, game consoles) but does not work on my desktop

Hi,
My desktop can find my wifi, connect to it, but it does not run. It says it has a 4 bar connection yet my internet still does not work. The odd thing is it works on my laptop. It runs smoothly and it is in the same room as my desktop. It is in range of the router and has previously worked on this computer. I have an HP Pavilion desktop.

Check your wifi card is working properly in Control Panel, Device manager.

Try a different wifi card in your pc eg http://www.newegg.com/Wireless-Adapters/SubCategory/ID-31

The wifi card is connected and functioning yet I am still not connecting to the internet.

First if the router and the desktop are in the same room you will get better performance with a wired connection.
