my win 8.1 wont boot..missing files...can i use a win 2000 pro disk to replace them?

My windows 8.1 RT wont boot on me acer aspire desktop.It said missing startup files,is it possible to use a windows 2000 repair disk to find files?My other computer is a dell with windows xp home...can I use either to replace missing files?

If you have windows 8.1 RT, you will have to send it in for repair. If you have the regular version of Windows 8.1, you will need to get a windows 8.1 installation disk and boot from it to either repair or reinstall windows.

Files don't just go missing. Did you delete anything or attempt to do any service to your computer? If not, it could be a sign that your hard drive is failing or that you have a nasty virus.

I used crap cleaner to clen the reg....I know my bad..I did save the files,but cant get to them.

You can look into booting from a linux live cd/usb to move files around, but I doubt you will be able to get back into windows without a windows install disk/usb.
