My windows installation cd can see my hard drives what could be the problem?

Hello,
I am trying to do a windows 7 installation using windows 7 ultimate bootable CD but it doesn't recognize my hard drive. If I run a ubuntu live CD, all the partitions are visible and also on the bios. what could be the problem and also what is the probable solution?

I think you may need to delete the partitions on the HDD.

Did you select Custom install??
