Guys, I just got a new battery. I went though 3 on this laptop. After I upgraded from a Windows 7 to a Windows 10 in 2015 for free, my computer is ALWAYS giving me alerts about updates. Today, it was updating and now the battery is on 0% and says plugged in, not charging. This usually happens when I plug it in before the login screen to put in the computer password comes up and before I turn on the laptop. BUT THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO USE IT NOW!!!! Help, I have no idea what to do. All my files could be lost. I transported a lot to my Google Drive, but I don't know about the rest now. What do I do? This is the only one in the house, and I need it for my studies since I'm in all the honors and advanced and highest level classes. Please help??? :??:

It sounds like your charger cord needs replacing. If a cord is damaged, and you may not actually see the damage, it can make it not allow enough power through to both charge the battery and run the laptop. This can lead to the laptop not running while the battery is in, and obviously the battery won't charge.

The battery 'may' charge when the device is turned off and plugged.
